MIC API request conditions — English translation

This translates the request-condition table and search rules (PDF pp. 3–6); revision history and repeated formatting are omitted. Parameter codes are unchanged. The purpose and communication code tables below additionally translate MIC’s search-selector data, with their source linked separately.

Purpose combination rule: specify either station purpose + communication matters, or station purpose + type of basic broadcasting. If only one component is supplied, that condition is ignored during the search.

Frequency precision: kHz permits 10 integer digits and up to 6 decimal places; MHz permits 7 integer digits and up to 9 decimal places; GHz permits 4 integer digits and up to 12 decimal places. The decimal point counts toward the 17-character maximum.

Version 1.3.0 removes the character-encoding condition because the encoding is standardized on UTF-8.

Purpose and communication code tables

The following tables translate the current alphabetic code lists in MIC’s licence-search selector data, as retrieved on 2026-09-17. The expert search form uses these lists for MK, TSNJK, and KHS. The API request PDF refers to the station-application code table in MIC Notification No. 860 of 2004 (平成16年総務省告示第860号). The selector data also contains older numeric lists marked “旧Ｈ２６” (former 2014 codes); those historical lists and internal placeholder values are omitted here.

“Matters concerning …” (に関する事項) is shortened to the subject in English. The MK column records which purpose selectors offer each code; “All except BBC” means the eight non-basic-broadcasting purposes above. These are the combinations shown by MIC’s UI, not independently tested API acceptance rules.
